Hotel ideas in Liverpool, nice but not too pricey?

dh and I are having a child free night away woo hoo! We've got tickets to see Suzanne Vega at the Phil. I lived in Liverpool while at uni but it was 16 years ago so I'm clueless and it seems to have changed beyond recognition.

Thanks helsy that looks gorgeous but unfortunately the cheapest room that night is £225 which we can't justify or afford

OMG! What about the £105 rooms then? Perhaps someone else knows of a gem in Liverpool.

Laterooms have a double room on 30th June (is that when you're going to see her?) for £140 at the Hope Street Hotel.

Hope St Hotel is gorgeous - would recommend. Hope you can find a deal on a room there.

£105 sounds better! Interesting that laterooms have it at £140 for that night. Will have to discuss it with dh and look at the Crowne Plaza. Hope Street does look good and I do know that area so would be handy for the Phil.

mrsdarcy, dh asks what the breakfast is like!

Delicious! I think we had a lovely long brunch kind of breakfast.

brandnewhelsy · 08/06/2007 18:58

So, what have you booked?

bosscat · 08/06/2007 19:02

I have stayed in the hope street hotel it is fabulous. amazing bathrooms and best restaurant in liverpool. but my friend has stayed a few times in the brand new malmaison and they have some excellent deals on for about £100 a night. she likes it there because they have a pool and spa etc. check out the Met Quarter whilst you are there for some amazing shopping. Armani exchange, Hobbs, Whistles, Kurt Geiger, MAC, Coast, ..... really worth a look.

We've ended up booking a place called The Liner which is £80 B&B. Laterooms did do a cheaper rate for Hope St in the end but with £30 extra for breakfast we decided we couldn't run to that so went for the cheap option hotel wise and will splash out on a good meal in the evening. Thanks for all the advice.

Think we are a bit out of touch with prices as were quite at the seemingly standard £15 a head for breakfast.
