Isle of Wight - Where to stay around Ventnor/ St Lawrence/ Freshwater areas

OK, decided on the Isle of Wight and the areas above (or close) but could do with some recommendations of either hotels or self catering options. Hotels preferable as a childless friend is coming and I think she'll be happier with her own space.

We don't want to stay in a holiday Park/ caravan park type of place but wherever needs to be child friendly for a 3yo dd.

Budget is not a problem as it'll be our main holiday but obviously we don't want to have to pay for something that we won't use or isn't necessary i.e. really poncy menu's or pedicures! IYSWIM.

We'll be going in term time so hopefully it'll be quite relaxed ????

I'm really looking forward to exploring the IofW as there seems to be so much to do, adult interested and children so we want to stay somewhere really nice

Seaview Hotel is very nice, in Seaview, views back across the water to Portsmouth. Children can see the big ships coming through.

The hotel has an apartment on the top floor. It also has an attached cottage at the back. Chef can cook your meal and they bring it round on a tray, bliss, if you don't fancy self catering one night!

They did earlier suppers in the dining room for children if you need that.

I really didn't like Seaview as a place at all - it really isn't the nicest place on the IOW by a long way, imo - sorry

Ventnor/Shanklin/Sandown, is very lovely and beautiful - as is Freshwater.
