Short break near Windermere with 2 small children - recommendations please.

dh is insisting that this would be perfect. Have been charged with finding us somewhere to stay. Can anyone recommend a self-catering place suitable for 2 small children and what is worth doing whilst we are there? In a previous life we were walkers, but are not up to carrying/pushing children far.

don't know where to recommend to stay, but while you are there, brockhole is worth a visit, its about half way between windermere and ambleside, you only pay for parking and there's a huge adventure playground with a bit for little ones too and you can also walk by the lake and paddle.

and in keswick, there is a clarks factory outlet shop, kids shoes half price!
