Looking for a nice hotel, south coast, easy reach of Southampton - any suggestions?

I'm looking for a short break
The inlaws are arriving in Southampton by boat so I thought we could go from there

Having trouble finding anything inspiring though

There's lovely hotel called The Solent Hotel, in Whitley. It's about a 25min drive outside of Southampton. You're probably looking for something more local though i guess?

It can be quite far from Southampton but preferably fairly accessible by public transport

I stayed here once with our ILs. Rather 1980s in the bedrooms, but the pool was great and the food was good.
