Nice hotel (spa?) near Alton Castle

Newish DP is invited to a wedding at Alton Castle (Stoke). I’m not invited, as I say- newish (I don’t mind at all), however we’re in the North East and my ex will have my DD that weekend so DP has invited me along for the weekend anyway. I’m looking for a nice hotel, possibly with a spa, so that I can drop DP off at the wedding at Alton Castle then go and chill by myself all afternoon before going to pick him up again at the end of the wedding reception. Up to a 20-30 min drive radius.

Moddershall Oaks!

St George's park is right on the edge of your radius, but worth considering (ignore the football bit the rest is lovely)

Unfortunately Three Horsehoes is fully booked for my dates! Moddershall Oaks looks good but the room rate says spa access not included, I wonder how much extra it is. Saint George’s looks quite good, will look at that one a bit more.

Actually sorry that’s the wrong way round- it’s moddershall oaks that’s fully booked.

It’s pretty average but cheapish and right next to Alton Castle.

Thanks I’ll have a look at that- could always stay at a cheaper non-spa hotel and just go for a spa afternoon elsewhere.
