M6 Toll route - is it worth it?

I will be driving North on the M6 at about 8pm (I Hope!) Bearing in mind that it is a bank hol Fri - should I use the toll route or the free route?

To be honest, I wouldn't bother- even at 8pm. It doesn't make a hugely big difference

Yes definitely use the toll road unless you want to view the suburbs of the West Midlands for a long long time!

I'd toll it every time but beware the services!! If you thought they're dear on the normal route, they're extortionate on the toll

Toll road defintely. Is always clear and no speed cameras! At least that has always been my experience.

My DP burns along the M6 toll at highly illegal speeds (not that I am saying that this is OK, of course not) - the average spped seems to be about 110... and I've never seen a jam on it (we use it fairly regularly when going up to Liverpool to see the in-laws). However, we've never used the alternative, so can't compare.
