I've read somewhere that the 'non-tourist' side is lovely to visit ?

I have never been and it's not somewhere that I'd have thought about but it's been niggling at the back of my mind so thought I'd ask any MN's of their opinions ...

Any recomendations for where to stay and what to do etc.

Is it an option for a short break ?

Definitely. There is loads to do. Search www.littlelegends.biz for the Isle of Wight and you can find out where to go.

IOW is great with children. If you do a search of past threads you'll find loads of recommendations. We go at least once a year for two/three days, usually stay in a mobile home.
