North East/Newcastle Holiday

Hiya, can anyone recommend a holiday park within an hours, two at the most drive from Newcastle?
It'll need to be self-catering. They'll be DH, our two children and me aged 4years and 19mths so a caravan, cottage, villa would be the kind of accommodation I'd be after with great local amenities suitable for small children.
Unfortunately Centre Parcs is totally outside of my budget.

There are two haven parks in Berwick upon Tweed and Park resorts have some aswell in North east or try Hoseasons they have some smaller parks HTH.

I replied on your other thread too. If you want lots to do Haggerston Castle may be a good one. Otherwise there are lots of caravan and cottage type places up the Northumberland coast. Just google northumberland, caravans, cottages or whatever.

Northumberland is beautiful and there is a lot to do, but if you tell me more of what you are into I might be able to point you in the right direction.

I live in Whitley Bay which has some things, but is good to get to lots of places. There is a caravan site - not sure what its like.

Cresswell Towers. Depending on traffic 20+ minutes from Newcastle. We're staying here October half term. Nearest beach is 3-4 minute walk from the site. From Cresswell you can go south for Newcastle, Morpeth, Ponteland and north for Druridge Bay, Amble, Seahouses, Bamburgh.

Haggerston even on a good day would be at least an hours drive to Newcastle.

Stayed on the caravan site in Whitley Bay by St. Mary's lighthouse, car got stuck in the mud, club house etc depressing. We didn't like it, spent as much time as possible off site.
