Beautiful English beach location with caves, adventures etc

I'm looking for ideas for an extended family holiday.

Looking for small interesting and beautiful villages within walking access to a beach. Ideally one which children (and adult) can have fun exploring and playing on all day. Caves, surfing, swimming, streams all a bonus.

Ideally a few shops not too far away for the odd pint of milk and a pub for a beer if possible.

Not too far from Home Counties. I'm thinking north Devon, Wales etc.

Thanks.

Manorbier (though not in England). Caves, stream, castle, village and pub (disclaimer, never actually been in pub).

Meant to say England AND Wales

Llangrannog is one of my favourites. Llangennith too.

St Davids, Pembrokeshire

The best I can think of is Bude on the North Cornwall/Devon border. www.visitcornwall.com/places/bude There are two great beaches for exploring and playing at Bude. Crooklets Beach has good rock formations and rockpools. It's also very popular with surfers. Summerleaze Beach is wide and sandy with lots of dunes to explore. It also has the sea pool nestled at the foot of the cliffs. Part man-made and part natural rock pool, the salt-water pool, cleaned daily by the tide, is great for swimming. It's surfable at all tides.

Bude Surfing Experience is the local surf school, but Shoreline Activities has a wider range of sports such as coasteering and sea kayaking. www.shorelineactivities.co.uk

Burton Bradstock In West Dorset might fit the bill.

Seeline · 19/06/2018 13:21

The Gower peninsula in south Wales would meet all those requirements, although not on a single beach.

I'd second LLangrannog.

It's in a beautiful area with lots of other beaches and places to explore.

Thank you. Any large holiday home personally recommendations welcome. Needs to have 4-6 bedrooms.

have a look at groupaccommodation.com and bigholidayhouse.com for something with this many bedrooms. also you can search on numbers on Airbnb as well as sites like tripadvisor or homeaway.

I stayed near here, recently, Seatown in Dorset, lovely area, about 6 miles from Lyme Regis.

Somerset. Beach holiday and Wookey Hole.

bellinisurge · 22/06/2018 14:57

Utterly shameless place marking. Great question.

Pendine in wales.

Has caves on the beach, a pub and a couple of shops.

Not far (10 mins most) drive from Laugharne castle.

Branleuse · 22/06/2018 15:09

round porthcurno?

Gower. Absolutely.

Papergirl1968 · 23/06/2018 22:46

Broad Haven and surrounding area, Pembrokeshire. Broad Haven beach has caves, Little Haven beach is nice too, and Nolton Haven beach, I think it is, has a stream.
Crystal clear sea, wildflowers lining the lanes. It’s like Cornwall without the crowds.
There are a couple of small theme parks nearby with animals and rides.
Stay in the Havens seems to be the main letting agent for the area.

Isle of Wight. Google Classic Cottages there. St Helens is stunning with a pub, nice restaurants and walkable to Tacktisle Adventures with all the activities you talk about. Also nearby drive is Compton Bay for surfing. You won't want to come home!

You could try Timber Hill at Broadhaven. The lodges aren't huge - i think they biggest sleep 6 but you could hire more than one. It's a lovely site and the beach is about a mile ago,
