We are staying in Zennor (approx 6 miles from St Ives) at the end of the school holidays.

Any insider suggestions for things to do or places to go? DC’s are 8 and 6 - so need to be kid friendly. We will have a car so can drive.

Many thanks

Paradise Park at Hayle has lots of colourful birds including parrots and flamingos, red squirrels, red pandas, penguins, otters and some farm animals including donkeys, goats, rabbits, guinea pigs and more. There is also the indoor junglebarn play centre with soft, play, giant slides an. Daily events run over the summer and include things like birds of prey shows and penguin feeding. There's a little ride on train, gift shop and cafe.
Leach Pottery in St Ives has claywork sessions for about £5 per child during her school holidays. They last for a couple of hours I think.
Cornwall Gold at Redruth is a good day out. There is Piskie Panning which lets the kids sift sand with a traditional gold pan to reveal little gems and other hidden treasures. You can visit the old tin mine and see exactly how it was done and see the machinery in action. There's also a 'build a bear' style workshop and a crazy golf course onsite. Little girls will love Pick-a-Pearl where you catch your own 'oyster' and capture a pearl directly from it! They can then make this pearl into a piece of jewellery with the pearl design team!
