Hi. I'm in Sheffield for two nights next week, work-related and wondered if anyone could recommend interesting places to see in the evening and any recommendations for eating. TIA!

Are you staying in the city centre? There's a lot of chain restaurants near the Peace Gardens fountains eg Cafe Rouge, Pizza Express, Piccolino's or the Leopold Square complex has a couple of others too - Zizzi, Strada, Wagamama, Botanist (great cocktails)
I personally like Ego or Head of Steam near the Crucible theatre (tho gets busy if a show is on). Check out the Winter Gardens and the Millennium Gallery for fun wandering too.
There's a fun speakeasy style bar called Public near the Town Hall but not open every day.
Its not the liveliest of city centres in the midweek but on a sunny day its lovely and safe to potter in

Go to the Steamyard cafe in the city centre for breakfast one day.
They do the best Cronuts and Cruffins 🙌🏻

And the millennium galleries, peace gardens and winter gardens are in the centre, and are lovely

Yes to Steamyard for the cronuts - 2 votes! Tamper Coffee also popular & if you like real ale, Kelham Island has a few lovely pubs to offer too.

The Festival of Debate is on atm and lots of events are free or cheap, idk if any of it would be of interest: www.facebook.com/events/244241266131417??ti=ia

Foodhall is a food waste/pay as you feel/freecycling community project based on the city centre and every weds evening they host an event where someone comes in and does a menu on a specific theme, tomorrow’s is italian and suggested donation is between £5 and £10 www.facebook.com/events/244241266131417??ti=ia again, might not be your thing but it’s interesting

The Curzon cinema is in the city centre, it has a rooftop bar which is pleasant, i do enjoy a rooftop bar. Rutland arms on paternoster row is a nice ‘proper’ pub with decent food as well. If you’re in town in the day go to Hungry Buddha in the Moor Market food court, he does amazing thali plates for less than £5
