Help me holiday in/near Wrexham!

DP is doing a week long training course in August in Wrexham and we've decided to go all together (we have a 7 month old) rather than me be all alone for the week. Plus I want to use the opportunity to visit friends in the north.

So - are there any nice villages or something within a 10/15 minute drive of Wrexham? Or is it a nice place to stay in itself? I know nothing about it.

Would love any help!

Come up to Chester!

Ilikemychickenfried that's what I thought initially but he wants a shorter drive to the training course!

Doesn't quite fit the 10/15 min drive I suppose. There are plenty of nice villages around Wrexham though, just chester would've been more interesting for you whilst your husband was at his course

Wrexham is fine as a town with plenty of good transport links (car, train, bus) and probably much cheaper than Chester to stay in.
Depends what you like really – quiet countryside or busy? There’s plenty of lovely country walks (Erddig, Llandegla, Alyn Waters, Ty Mawr) and quieter villages (Minera, Llandegla, Rossett, Gresford, Marford, Holt, Bangor On Dee) on the outskirts or you could go for Chester if you want a busier vibe? There’s also the Zoo, Cheshire Oaks, Ice Cream Farm, Delamere/Blakemere Village more Chester way?
Or Llangollen (probably expensive and busy in Aug)?

Thanks hogtini some super tips there! Your mention of Bangor on Dee has led to me finding what I think is the perfect holiday let for us. Going to get it booked up tomorrow and start a list of things to do with your ideas! Smile

Bangor on Dee is lovely, quiet quaint village and really nice award-winning pubs too. Enjoy!
