Day out Exmouth/Topsham

Anyone got any recommendations of a nearby sandy beach suitable for 3-5yos? We always go further into Devon (South Hams or North Coast) or Cornwall, so don't know this area.

I've read great reviews of Darts Farm for food, incl fresh fresh fresh lobster cooked before your very eyes with top chips and mayo and local cider (helluva posh fish'n'chip shop) and want to end up there for tea before legging it back up the M5, but want somewhere to spend the best part of the day.

Thort I'd get this summer's day trips planned well in advance so we avoid the summer Saturday morning "so it's nice out, what are we going to do this weekend then?" pressure. TIA

I think Exmouth is a great idea because of the excellent fun park behind the beach car parks. Did your thread mean not exmouth or topsham and just nearby? Sidmouth is lovely too and you've got the Donkey Sanctuary there too for Dcs.

Dawlish Warren - get a ferry across Exe estuary, kids'll love it

nope, Exmouth itself fine, if it's nice - we've never been. That bit between Branscombe and the Exe is about the only bit of Dorset, Devon & Cornwall we haven't explored in the last 15 years we've been living this side of the country, so it's about time...can take or leave donkeys tho

thanks for the info

I'd go for exmouth itself then as the beach is lovely and sandy and there are nice dunes for the daddies adn kids to play in and the harbour is nice to look around and see all the fishing boats. They also do a lot of boat trips out to see seals etc.

sorted then, Exmouth it is. ta LM
