Places to visit near Reighton Sands

Hi,

Booked a break at Reighton Sands and looking for places to visit nearby. I know Bridlington as we often stay in Beverley but wanted to go a bit further up this year.

The Scarborough Fair collection of working vintage fairground rides is both fun and interesting.
Peasholm is a beautiful park; it has a tranquil lake on which people can hire boats of all sorts to enjoy the water at close quarters. Boats include traditional rowing boats and canoes of course, but pedalos with dragon heads are available too, and these prove to be extremely popular with the kids! Check for times of Battle of Peasholme Park Naval Battle, which is excellent fun for the kids as oodles of model boats pretend to fight each other! There is an island in the centre of the lake and a bridge leading across to it allows the visitor to explore the island with a path leading round it or by climbing up to the top with its impressive pagoda. The park has been designed with an oriental theme and there is much evidence of this as you wander through its pathways.
Make sure you take in the North Bay Railway across the road, the kids will love it and very reasonable at only a couple of quid.
The SesLife Sanctuary in Scarborough is excellent. There are a massive thirteen zones to explore and there is a great selection of fish and animals including otters, penguins, rays, seals, sharks, turtles etc... You can walk through the penguin enclosure and help to feed some of the fish too.

Dalby forest, Whitby, Pickering and the North Yorkshire Moors railway are all good for days out.

Playdale Farm is good with young children. Flamingo land and Eden Camp are further away but good for older kids/families. I live nearby and for days out we go to whitby, Pickering (for the steam railway), Sewerby Hall, or into Hull for the Deep, the museums, East Park. Beverley Westwood lovely for a free run around and explore.

We usually stay in Beverley down this way, so will be good to explore further up. X
