Can you recommend anything to do or places to eat etc?

tons and tons

I live just near there:

There's a lovely beach
Sea-life centre
Funfair
shops
a bit down the coast there's Bridlington,
Filey,
Whitby,
Robin Hood's Bay
all lovely
About 20 miles inland there's FlamingoLand

What kind of thing did you have in mind?

Not been for years but we went there regularly when I was younger.
I think we went because it was central to lots of other places like Filey, (I loved Filey Brig, great for flying kites at the top and rock-pooling at the bottom) Whitby, Robin Hoods Bay (great bookshops last time I went.) The North Yorks Moors.
In Scarborough itself I remember the shops being good, the beach, and the 2 penny slot machines.
I also loved Peasholm Park, but apparently it's changed quite a bit. I used to love going on the night walk round the island, playing in the rowing boats, feeding the very tame squirrels and watching the battleships (which scared me when I was younger.)

Squonk, I know the island walk has closed now. Does the rest still exist? I really hope the battleships are still there because my blokey only half believes they existed anyway.

Any good child friendly places to eat?

I don't eat out there, as it's so close to home, but they all look child-friendly
