Some lovely villages around Newton Abbot

Hi everyone:

My wife of 25 years would like us to move near Dartmoor and buy a few acres with a smallish house, I should mention we are 1st gen Canadians from U.K. parents and are moving from Vancouver, which leads me to the following question;
Would some of the villages be closed to us? I read in a couple of other posts that some Devon villages are less inclined to outsiders. I would appreciate your opinions and any recommendations to either near Newton Abbot (for train connections) or Tavistock. Thank you from Vancouver

Sorry I don't know the area, but I think you might get more help if you report your post and ask MNHQ to move it to the property board. Failing that just repost there.
