I am meeting some friends in Peterborough during half-term for the day we will all be arriving on the train and have a bunch of 4 year olds to entertain - any ideas of fun activities/touristy things for them to do given we will be dependant on public transport/taxis etc also need ideas on nice places to eat etc for them (and us ) we are not on a budget so would consider most things

There's activity world, but you'd need a taxi to get there.

Sessions House isn't far from the centre and train station and does an excellent carvery.

It might be worth finding out if Nene Valley is running a Thomas day. You could then ride on "Thomas" up to Ferry Meadows and play there, perhaps take a picnic, or within a 10 min walk of Ferry Meadows, there's a Beefeater. Or they have "normal" steam/diesel trains if no Thomas.

Defo Ferry Meadows Country Park. There is also an Activity World and a Big Sky - both adventure play but require taxis (although could prob get a bus to Big Sky).

Cathedral in middle of town?
