Dinner on the South Bank

Can anyone recommend any decent bars/restaurants near the South Bank, please,
I'm meeting an old friend next week for dinner/drinks. Would prefer something not too chainy/ubiquitous if possible. TIA

Oxo tower, if not too swanky.

I went recently and it's all chains near waterloo/southbank.

BFI may be one exception, it's lovely bar and restaurant round the back.

but really, go there.

Sea Containers at the Mondrian Hotel

Thanks!

BFI is a good shout. I think the Oxo tower might be beyond me the week before payday in January!

Although I've just looked up Sea Containers and it looks nice and fairly reasonably priced for central London. Smile

County Hall is quite good if you want a less busy place.

I've not been for ages but Ping Pong at Royal Festival Hall had a nice bar upstairs.

Sounds like you might be sorted, but I remember The Cut (the bar/restaurant at the Young Vic) being pretty good, and Tas (small chain in Turkish restaurants) has a branch on The Cut and one just by the Globe.

Came to suggest BFI too
