Scotland, where to go?

I'd like to visit Scotland in May, haven't decided if it should be just a weekend for DH and I for our 10 year anniversary, or as our anniversary falls on the May half term week we could take the kids (9,6,4) and make it a family holiday.

DH would love whiskey related activity and golf ( oldest son plays too)
I would love some beautiful nature and great local food ( maybe spa if just the two of us)
Kids would love hog warts express and seeing seals and dolphins.
So where to go?
And should we go just the two of us or as a family?

Islay would be lovely for a week in May.

Isle of Mull. There's a distillery in Tobermory, whale and dolphin boat trips, trips to Iona and Staffa. I've seen golden eagles, seals, basking sharks. The beach at Calgary is lovely (and just a beach, nothing else).

Islay and Jura will be bonkers during May half-term as it's the whisky festival (no E in Scottish whisky OP, from a local pedant Smile)
Arran has all those things that you mention, or Aberfeldy is a lovely town (that doesn't require a ferry!) and has Crieff nearby for a spa, loads of outdoor activity potential, a distillery and one or two nice eateries.

Hmmm no dolphins or seals in Aberfeldy though!

Arran for whisky. Troon for golf. Troon is the birthplace of golf and you can see Arran from the course.

Thank you for all suggestions! I'm googling away sorry about the whisky "e" had no idea there was more than one spelling 😊
