Me and wife would like suggestions about 1 night away from om kids, something relaxing ideally anywhere between Manchester to London as I don't want to drive and relax on the train... Any suggestions considered.

Not to sound down selfish but we are due 1 night away, last year was a tough year

Bath is a lovely city to go to. or you could just have a look at a map and see where you have always wanted to visit? alternatively stay as close to home as possible but in a swanky hotel and save on the petrol costs.

Where are you? If you're near Manchester, I'd go to Castleton in Derbyshire. Very pretty, nice pubs and hotels for romantic weekend away, great walks, Blue John mines etc.
If you're half way between Manchester and London, how about Malvern hills area or Cotswolds?

From London without car Rye is absolutely gorgeous for a weekend away. With car, The Bell at Tycehurst is really romantic and not expensive.

We're close to macclesfield really, which is on Manchesters doorstep. Just want do to something a little different away from town, somewhere to relax we usually do a night in the city with a meal and hotel etc.
I know it's the other way but York seems to offer something different.

Never done a spa break and fancied that aswell but wouldn't know where to start with this, this is also a surprise for my wife aswell, unless she stalks this site...
