Can anyone suggest a holiday for family of 5, with me 30-odd weeks pregnant?

UK, max. about 4 hours driving from Glasgow. Self catering.

EDD is 24th August. DH dead against it, but I think the holidays will be so long if we all stay at home.

C'mon.

I was thinking Northumberland maybe?

Mull? Ferry might be too expensive though. Would like accomodation for around £500. Less even better.

Was it something I said?

How long for? I immediately thought Centerparcs Whinfell Forestwhen I saw your family make-up. We went with 2 DC when I was heavily pregnant and it was surprisingly relaxing. It can be pricey though.

Cross posted with you GF

ceolas · 21/04/2007 20:12

Oh thank God

I'd like a week, but CP is too much for a week. We've been to Whinfell and enjoyed it. Don't supose we'd do much cycling at that stage!

Yeah I optimistically hired a bike and used it once! Preferred to waddle from cafe to restaurant after that!

ceolas · 21/04/2007 20:15

I really fancied camping when I first thought about this 2 months ago. Now not sure...

Mmmmmm what kind of bed would you use and there's the toilet issue???

ceolas · 21/04/2007 20:19

I know. We have an airbed. DH as I said is very anti the whole holiday idea. I think the suggestion of camping might blow my chances completely!

What about a log cabin in Cumbria? Have heard that you can find them around the Lakes quite cheaply.

MorocconOil · 21/04/2007 20:28

Can't do those link things but found this by google, lodgebreaks.co.uk

ceolas · 21/04/2007 20:29

I think ideally I'd like somewhere with things to do either onsite or nearby - CP style - so we don't have to go far to keep the kids amused.

Lakes would be nice. Hoseasons have a few places. It's always worrying picking somewhere without a recommendation, don't you think?

Yes IKWYM. Have friends who rave about camping on Mull with kids. You are very dependant on the weather though.

angmarie · 22/04/2007 08:24

what about a Haven holiday the ones in Berwick are nice.

ceolas · 22/04/2007 12:47

This is going to sound incredibly snobbish. We've never been to a Haven place. Are they very crowded, loud music type places?

DH is still very anti. He thinks we should wait til the beginning of July and see what's available then. My guess will be nothing.

He's worried something will go wrong before then

Will be 35 weeks. People must go on holiday as pregnant as that surely?
