2018 Festivals that tick all these boxes.....?

For the last 6 years I've taken my children to a festival in the summer holidays. When they were younger they just loved the 'kids area' and playing in the activities tents, learning circus skills etc. But they are getting older and are now more interested in going to events that feature a line up of artists/bands that they have heard of.

We have some restrictions, it needs to offer Live-In vehicle options, as I'm not able to pitch a tent due to a bad back, and they want to avoid the last weekend of July and August Bank Holiday weekend as these have other things like birthdays on them. Last year we went to Kendal Calling and this year we went to The Big Feastival, and they loved them, perfect balance of varied line-up and other attractions, but next year they both clash with birthdays, so they are not really an option.

Thanks Redactio, the line up looks great, so much so that I'm slightly afraid of the ticket prices! It's not during the summer holidays though, so I'd have to take my Yr 7 and Yr 10 out of school to go, and I'm pretty sure that would cause strife from school.

Also, geographically, we live near Manchester, so tend to opt for events within a 4 hour drive (we are towing so that's a slow 4 hours, not a 90mph motorway trip!) and IoW is a long, long way!!

Green man festival in South Wales. Clean, tidy, really good for families.

The one at Cheltenham racecourse.....can't remember the name bit I've been and it's good.

Or latitude?

Green man has potential, if my kids know any of the line up.

Lattitude is during school summer term sadly. It needs to be in the summer holidays.

Most definitely Lakefest, Hertfordshire. Next year it's 9th - 12th August. Imelda May and The Charlatans headlined, but the rest of the line up was pretty good too. Line up for next year not confirmed. Early bird tickets are such good value and there is a lot of interesting other entertainment. Cracking review on caravan talk website.

Belladrum! Though further than 4 hours. Great festival.

When does their school start again? End of the Road is amazing

But for a cheap additional weekend I can't reccommend Tramlines in Sheffield enough. I stayed in a Travelodge though. Not sure about vehicles but I am sure you could find somwhere to park and then travel around the stages on the Tram.

I like the look of Lakefest, waiting to see if my kids have heard of any of the line-up. (Bearing in mind we saw Louisa Johnson, Ella Eyre, Olly Murs & Madness this summer at Big Feastival, and Rudimental and Madness last summer at Kendal Calling, so old school bands from the 90’s are not bands my 11 & 14 year olds know )

Belladrum is a 12+ hour drive. So nope.

School holidays are July 26 - September 3rd.

Oh, sorry LeatherBound, the camping, in a field, cooking on fires etc is part of the fun.

As you're near Manchester it might be a bit too local, but Head For The Hills (what used to be ramsbottom festival) is lovely, and what about festival number 6 in Portmerion

Deershed festival near Thirsk. You can hire a teepee or tents that are pre pitched. Festival covers music, literature, craft, science, sport and film. There are activities for kids of all ages and lots of food options. Plus the loos are cleaned daily. Would definitely recommend.
