What's the best route up Snowdon - and where to stay to avoid parking stress?

DD (15) and I want to walk up Snowdon in a couple of weeks. She would probably prefer an interesting scramble.

I've only done it once before. I went over Crib Goch in sheet ice. I still occasionally have nightmares about it. I'm not going that way!

Can you suggest an interesting, not too difficult route? An added bonus would be a route that starts from a hotel / B&B / AirBnB so we don't have to worry about parking.

The YHA at Pen Y Pass is a good place to stay if you are thinking of going up the Pyg track.

The Pyg track is interesting and not too challenging. We did it with 8 and 9 year old dses, a tough day for the boys but great fun.

We just got up early and had parked by 8:30 at the Pyg track car park. You can get a bus from Llanberis too. Any later than we were and we wouldn't have parked though.

Thanks. Yes that's what worries me. Getting 15yo up a mountain is one thing. Getting her to actually get out of bed before 10.00 am is quite another challenge!

I'll look at the bus / YHA option.

Avoid the weekends and even mid week you need to get there early during the summer holidays. Don't try parking along the roads by the car parks - the ticket wardens are quite zealous. I like the Pyg and Miners tracks ( go up one and down the other!). The route from Llanberis is probably the least stressful for parking and it's probably the easiest ascent too.

Crib Goch? That was brave!

I'd agree. Llanberis is the easiest route up. The hardest part is the walk from the car park at the train station and up the tarmac track. Very steep!

Definitely Llanberis. Ample parking and a lovely route! I often run up, love it!!!!

Pete's Eat is a must, great food!
