I'm looking to take DD (4yo) away for a couple of nights during the hols. I'm not too bothered about where, only that there is plenty for her to do. I'd look at beaches, theme parks, forest locations, literally anything.

Only proviso is that it's no more than 3 hours away from Swansea. We go to Gower all the time though, so I'm looking further afield than that.

Suggestions please!

TIA

Have you been to the dinosaur park in tenby that's a great day out, margam park is good for a couple of hours, folly farm, Dan yr ogof caves, pembrey country park thats off the top of my head if I think of anymore I'll post again

3 hours from Swansea covers most of South/Mid and West Wales.

You can go to loads of different places:
Folly Farm
Oakwood Park
Cantref
St Fagans
Loads of castles (check the Cadw site)
Dan-yr-ogof
Cefn Erw Monkey Sanctuary
National Botanical Gardens of Wales
Pembrey Country Park
Tenby
I think Bluestone has a water park you go visit as a day visitor
Heatherton
Techniquest

Trip advisor (and other sites) will have a top 10 things to do in South Wales section but Google any of the places I've written and you'll get more info.

3 hours from Swansea can get you as far up as Aberystwyth to the West, maybe further. Definitely as far up as Builth Wells to the North (again probably further) and all the way out of Wales into West England which includes places like Bristol Zoo to the East (but remember the toll to cross the bridge on the way home).

These threads tend to be quiet...if you want more responses try posting for traffic in Chat.

Hope you have a great holiday.

Weston super mare is good for children. Beach, pier, little aquarium, parks and gardens. Great to use as a base for travelling around too as it's close to Bath and Bristol. Best bit to visit is Cheddar Gorge- It's only a few miles from Weston and is a brill place to explore. I'm thinking of taking dd there in the hols again. Only 2 hours from Swansea!

Weston super mare is awful but Bristol and bath are good ideas.

Thanks all. We've been to most attractions in South Wales but the list is handy.

Weston could be a good shout, hadn't thought of that. I will post in chat later on though to try and garner a few more suggestions. It fits the bill though in terms of things to do plus nearby attractions to visit.

We live in Bath. You might struggle to find places to stay at a reasonable price ATM, but there is plenty to do.

I used to love taking my young daughter to Bluestone (a bit too pricey in the school hols). It was a really good base (so we'd go to the adventure centre or waterpark at the start and/or end of the day as both are up the hill by the car park and venture out during the day). DD used to love stopping off at Castell Coch (north of Cardiff). A proper child-sized castle.

We have just finished a 9-day (use a few Youth Hostels/AirBnb) holiday and have been really impressed at the amount of stuff the National Trust and English Heritage have been doing for younger visitors. the NT have some great wilderness play areas, if that is the sort of thing your daughter enjoys (Erddig was definitely a place we need to return to).

My Welsh geography is a bit rubbish but Greenwood forest park is brilliant.

Longleat? Bristol zoo?

We went to Cotswold Wildlife park last year and that was a good day out. It should be under 3 hours from Swansea.
