Hi, we are thinking of having a weeks holiday in the UK this year but don't really have a clue as to where to start looking.
We are in Berkshire and going to Longleat Centre Parks in Dec so CP's are out.
My parents live in central Cornwall so would consider the west coast.
Don't mind if it's hotel or country cottage, coast or inland.
Open to any suggestions ...

we love www.bosinver.co.uk

we loved Sands Resort in Cornwall. Maybe too close to your parents though huh. Our children had a fantastic time there.

north devon, eg woolacombe is great for that age. fantastic beaches, and loads of places aimed at young chldren to visit in the area.

What about Bournemouth? - it's on the South Coast which sort of maximises your chances of a good weather (albeit doesn't guarantee it). Nice sandy beach. Reasonably genteel up market-ish resort (as far as the seaside can be).

Also 20 mins drive away from the New Forest and lovely walks/ charming villages.

...and a simple journey for you from Berkshire (M3 then M27)

It may be naff-tastic but what about Butlins Minehead? We went for the first time last june with our DD's aged 3 and 1 - and they absolutely loved it! I had misgivings about going but was pleasently surprised. We did go 'Gold accomodation/HB' though - Silver and Standard from some accounts was a bit school dinnery. The food standard with Gold was very good - the rooms were ok - cleaned every day. There's loads for little ones to do - free fun fair (some rides they couldn't go on) and Bob the Builders word just for little ones was good. Its right opposite a huge sandy beach and the weather was good which was an added bonus. We had so much fun we are going again this year. Couldn't fault it to be honest.

No recomendations for a particular place, but with a 3 year old I would go selfcatering or get a suite so that when DD is sleeping in the evening you can relax with a bottle of wine or whatever instead of perching on the end of a bed trying not to wake her.

Tillyboo
My dd1 loves Haven for Rory and the PAWS kids clubs and we've stayed at Piren Sands (not sure it's spelt right sorry) - It's not too over expensive either and it's on Cornwall coast just down from Newquay.

Went on a week's holiday to a Park Resorts caravan site in Isle of Wight. Cheap, cheerful and a good base from which to go exploring around the island - Black Gang Chine absolutely fantastic for little kids.
I grew up in North Devon and agree Devon and Cornwall are beautiful for a family holiday in the summer. I can smell the sea air and feel the breeze just thinking about it.... am going to visit my sister down there in August and can't wait!!!

depending on your budget

I would strongly recommend www.tredethick.co.uk

We have recently returned from cottage holiday in N. Devon. Owners only have 2 holiday lets, one attached to their own house and an additional holiday bungalow, a few little toddler swings/seesaw and games room for older children or adults. Sheep fiels and countryside all round, very quiet but lots to do nearby including beaches, tarka trail. I can give the website to you if interested to have a look.
