We're having our first trip to Wales this summer near Llandovery and have been warned by the cottage rental agency about excess 'insects' this year that are likely to be inside the cottage, as well as outside. I'm not sure what type of insects they mean - maybe midges? mosquitoes? or even fleas/lice etc. So I wonder if anyone familiar with this region of Wales can give me some idea of what to expect?
We're also wondering if it's likely to rain every single day and be quite cold in early August compared to the south-east of the UK?
Finally, the whole point of the holiday is to get away from it all, including people/crowds etc and just be able to walk and cycle through the woods. Is this a reasonably expectation or will there be quad bikes, motorbikes etc throughout the forest tracks, forestry machinery and works going on all the time and impassable routes due to rain etc?
There's no wifi or TV or mobile signal where we're actually staying, so we do need to be well prepared and totally self-sufficient. Any local information in advance would be useful.
