We are there for a week from next week. Can anyone recommend their favourite beaches and places to visit!

Whitstable - it's the Oyster festival here this weekend so will be busier than usual. There's something called The Grotters on Monday (I think) as part of the festival which is great fun - they put huge piles of oyster shells on the main beach and people compete to build the best structure using only the shells. Then at twilight they come around and light tea lights in them all - if it's a nice evening it's amazing, very atmospheric. It's a lovely town just to visit and wander round.
Other beaches locally which are great - Minnis Bay in Birchington, St Mildred's Bay in Westgate, Joss Bay in Broadstairs - all sandy (whitstable & herne bay are pebbles).
Margate is well worth a visit - Dreamland is fun and the Turner gallery is great. Lots of cool vintage shops etc in the Old Town.
Feel free to PM me if you have any specific questions!
