Somewhere like Dartmouth, that isn't Dartmouth?

We stayed in Dartmouth in February and it was lovely. Nice feel to the town, lovely location on the river watching the boats and ferries.

We're now looking for a week in the Summer holidays somewhere similar. Probably not as far South West as Dartmouth, as the road in and out sounds quite hellish in the Summer.

We live in East Anglia, so probably not there either. We don't need it to have children's activities in the area as the DCs are 21 and 14. Not keen on traditional seaside (Great Yarmouth etc).

Can anyone suggest a nice riverside/coastal town please?

Have you considered the Kentish coast? Deal is lovely and has become super trendy.

Whitstable is lovely. So nice we've been twice for long weekends.

Chichester is lovely.
