Liverpool City Centre Accomodation On A Budget

Looking for a four night stay in July as cheap as possible and as near to the city centre as I can get to cut back on travel fares. I have flights to Liverpool to budget for too so looking for the best deal on a hotel that I can get, will need a family room for 4. Any help and recommodations much appreciated!

Try the Travelodge site. Can sometimes get rooms v cheap.

Campanile Hotel near the Docks is usually cheaper than a lot of others it's not fancy but is good for a base probably about 10 min walk to the city centre

Premier Inn at Albert Dock

Used to love staying in the campaniles in France enroute to our destination.
What is Liverpool one like.
Clean?
Is area around it ok?
Want to bring grandson to see Liverpool play and will be wanting somewhere budget to stay
