Center Parcs - Penrith or Sherwood Forest?

Hi there - as above, has anyone been to both and have a preference? For us both are the same distance/hassle to get to, so that's less of a factor.

Never been to CP before (except the spa!) so also recommendations on places to eat/things to do would be great.

Children are 6 and 1 if that makes a difference.

Thanks Smile

Sherwood!!! A million amazing memories there as a kid- don't even remember Penrith

Swimming, horse riding, archery, picnics and the Robin Hood show and food. ( even though robin is actually more likely to have been from Yorkshire - I did a module on it in uni but that's a different arguement) 😁

Thank you - that sounds very promising!

Are there better/worse times to go in terms of activities (ignoring the huge fluctuations in cost)?

I prefer Whinfell Forest. The village centre is all undercover, and the look of the lodges is nicer. The Sherwood Forest ones remind me of portacabins (although I understand they have changed from the original pebble dashing to being timber clad), at Whinfell Forest I think there are more 2 storey ones too, that layout works better for us than having the bedrooms all on one level with the living area (the kids never go to sleep as they say we are being too noisy when we've stayed in the 'one level' lodges).

The two sites do have a slightly different 'feel' - Whinfell Forest started out as Oasis, a competitor to Center Parcs, it wasn't originally built by Center Parcs.
