help - DS is on crutches - less active things to do in Snowdonia

Since we booked our week in Snowdonia at Easter DS has hurt his leg, DH broke his arm, so we won't be doing the anticipated mountain biking and climbing, Go Ape etc.

We don't want to cancel our holiday, so what is there we can do that doesn't involve too much walking? Obviously there are the railways but not sure I want to do that every day. DS's are 11 and 12. I suppose I'm thinking ice cream parlour, movie or theatre, attractions you can go round on a little train, boat trip etc? Any hidden gems?

We are staying near Dolgellau but don't mind driving north or south.

Barmouth beach is good and has lovely fiah and chip shop and anlittle amusrments.
You could go up Mt Snowdon on the train but it is many many £s.
Betws Y Coed is good for a slow look around the shops and has a nice ice cream parlour.

We're heading to this area too - I'll look out for the crutches and broken arm Smile. I am hoping to visit Portmeirion but other than that am looking for ideas...

Oh yes Portmerion, I would like that! I do know the area fairly well but we have always focussed on outdoor stuff rather than attractions.

What is at Llecchwdd Slate Caverns? Is it walking or ride in a truck?

We know Barmouth, yes good call. But DC have sort of grown out of castles.

You get a little train down but then you have to walk at the bottom

Centre for Alternative Technology - we had a good day out there several years ago.
