Reasonably priced holiday parks in Devon / Cornwall? No need for anything too fancy

HAve been looking to spend a week in Cornwall / Devon at the beg of July - have looked at Haven etc and cheapest is around 600quid which is more than we want to pay as we will have been in France the week before. We just want a decent caravan / chalet, near a nice beach with maybe a pool on site. We don't need nightly entertainment etc, just somewhere nice and not too chavvy!

West star holidays seem quite reasonably priced.

Have you any experience of weststar pfnm?

No but nearly booked with them this year and their accomodation etc appears to be good value .

we used parkdean last year, very reasonable, lovely caravan and good facilities. they have a website so you can get a price online. we will be going back this year

Hi Tub - which one did you go to and what was good / not so good about it? What was the pool like etc

We wne to Parkdean last year stumped up for Gold Log Cabin thing and to be honest I wouldn;t have let my dog stay in it (if I had one!!) - was filthy and stank of damp - dread to think what the bronze ones would have been like - oh and DD got food poisoning from the canteen thing there too and the costcutter was so horendously overpriced - would have been cheaper driving out to find a decent super market - actually Ocado deliver there!!

But I am so not a holiday park person - we just thought this would be better for DS being so young and hating flying - lots to do out of the park though went to Farmer Palmers, Monkey World and Marwel - actually ended up costing us more than a holiday abroad at a nice villa!!

We went to the one in newquay, Had a big outdoor pool (although we went in september so didn't use it) They have a small soft play area for todlers and they run toddler sessions and sessions for older kids. Felt that the outdoor play parks could have been better equipt, nothing really suitable for DS who was 1 at the time.
Caravan was a 2005 one so nice and clean and well equipt with DVD player, iron etc.
No complaints really.

That's a shame twinkie, TBH we didn't really use any of the facilities other than the caravan as like you not really the holiday park type of person. Really just a base to go off and do other things

goodgrief, go to Brixham, it is great, we've been there about 4-5 times now. Indoor pool, next to small beach, 5 mins walk to another beach, good half an hour walk through woodland to an even bigger beach!

Small quiet park, ie no big kids club eetc. But there is a playground, space for football. Restaurant/bar if you don't fancy cooking, the occasional singer is in there. Small shop for when you run out of milk.

YOu can walk into Brixham centre, 10 mins. Catch coastline bus to Paignton and Torquay, barely need your car. Crazy golf and steam train at Paignton (train goes to Dartmouth). Paignton Zoo is really nice.

Boat trips from Brixham Harbour to Torquay, sea life centre there, pizza express, and a great indoor play centre (in an old church).

There is just so much to do!

The park itself is clean, well kept, maintenance men on site. We had a problem one year with a bath tap and it was sorted within 20 minutes.

(A 2 bed caravan at beginning of July is about £450)

Ive stayed at Park Dean - Holywell bay. Was reasonably priced. Accomodation was good. I think the more you pay the better you get. If you stay there you def need a car. = £200ish (i think) - 1 week

Ive also stayed at Riviera Bay in Brixham - www.rivierabay.biz . Again the price was good. Wasnt far from Paignton and Brixham. We went in Sept so was quite cold at night. There were elec heaters but they hardly gave off any heat. Oh and we had to pay for the elec. If i remember we used £20 worth. We left the cooker hob on most of the time to keep the place warm. Again if you pay more you get better accomodation. = £130 - 1 week.

we bought this through ebay for last summer - had a fantastic time. site is a private run site, indoor swimming pool is great and quiet, general a nice, friendly environment. in fact we'll be going back.
