We moved to Devon a year ago, we live in a little village just outside Exeter. We totally love it. Close to beaches, estuary, moors, rivers, forests, and yet within walking and cycling distance of the city centre as well.

I think it's quite different living in Exeter or Plymouth than in one of the beautiful but remote areas though. There's a reasonable amount to do in Exeter even in winter.

We thought about living in Exmouth - it's fantastic for windsurfing, which is one of the reasons we moved to Devon. People who grew up there and people with children seem to really like it. But we preferred being in/close to Exeter in the end.

On the avodaco front, there are hordes of locally grown organic fruit and veg box schemes, Devon has the most schemes like that in the country. Fruit and veg variety is not a problem.

Also our valley is known for its wine, due to its sunny location. And really, which would you choose, a supermarket avocado or wine from a local vineyard?

Had to LOL at the pronounciation for teignmouth- it never occurred to me it could be otherwise, is it like Ilfracombe then? (as in, we used to get so tired of being stopped by people asking how to get to Ill-frah-com-bee?

Shaldon is gorgeous, haven't been there in years.
