Good food in READING? Need to organise a 'posh' (ish) hen night.....

My best friend is getting married in 3 weeks time and we're having a hen night next weekend - not the flashing tiara and pink flufy handcuffs type, something a bt more relaxing.

We need to find somewhere to eat that's sophisticated, chilled and serves fab food but isn't going to break the bank - trouble is I don't know Reading at all and she's only just moved there 3 weeks ago. Are there any nice wine bars too where you don't get groped by lecherous old men ?

Any suggestions would be appreciated!

The Forbury looks as if it would fit the bill. I haven't been but would like to.

That looks nice WWW - thanks. I've no idea about prices 'down there' but is that mid-range/expensive?

DD tells me that the bit outside the Forbury is a regular skater's zone - she agrees with Ma Potters & santa Fe & also suggested Old Orleans (also on the Riverside)

The London Street Brasserie is nice - next to the riverside at the oracle so could go over to the bars etc etc after/before meal- or to the casino which is on the otherside of the street

I'll second Pepe Sale.

Thai restaurant whose name I have forgotten successfully induced me with dd2 (eat hot curry, add fresh pineapple... wait two hours... go into labour ).
