Somewhere that sleeps 6. Is near a beach. Things to do. And good public transport?

Any ideas?

Will be arriving by train. 2 adults. 4 kids.

Needs to have things to do. Places to eat. Definitely need a beach close by. Places to play and walk.

We're coming from Manchester.

For a week.

Any ideas please?

Ŷou know your answer is blackpool. However it's a dirty shithole, you probably know that too. Still it has everything you want in a holiday and more.

Madrikh · 07/02/2017 10:20

I don't want to go Blackpool at all.

We do a few days trips in the summer but would like somewhere less shit holey 😂

Edinburgh could be a possible. I don't know how good the public transport links are to beaches but it's a direct train journey and there is lots to do and see for everyone there

Salumeria · 07/02/2017 10:38

Bournemouth? I think you can get a direct train from Manchester, brilliant beaches, lots to do and water warm enough for swimming.

Berwick on Tweed. There are loads of threads about Northumberland on here. Lovely beach at Spittal. How old are your kids?

Llandudno? Not been myself but looks pretty and I once had a very good chip butty at Llandudno junction. I think you could do an easy day trip by train up to Blaenau Ffestiniog or even take the steam train on to Portmeirion and back in a day.

Scarborough

Isle of Wight? If you stay in Ryde you can get the ferry or hovercraft over with no car.beach is long and lovely sand, transport on buses is good around the island, loads to do. We love it there! Loads of holiday accomodation around.

Definitely Scarborough.

I'd second Edinburgh. You can very easily get a bus to Portobello or a train to North Berwick. Loads to do in the city itself.

Whitby is very nice and the train station is right in the centre of town.

Wemyss Bay , Scotland. Nice beach. Loads to do as near Glasgow, Arran and easy access to Argyle, Loch Lomond and the Trossachs . Not to mention Largs with Nardinis and fabulous ice cream.

Penzance

Exmouth. You get one train to Exeter & then the local train straight down to Exmouth. The train & bus station are in the same place in Exmouth and the 95 bus will take you to Haven Devon Cliffs.

Caravans sleep up to 8, lots to do, right on the beach, swimming pool & children's entertainment.

It can be expensive in the summer but there are a few ways to book other than paying top dollar through Haven themselves.

Worth a look at least.

Isle of Wight defo. Don't need a car to get around the island

mamabluestar · 08/02/2017 22:05

Whitby or Staithes - you can book some lovely cottages close by
