Bristol is a good place to stop. the @Bristol science museum is really great fun and hands on. there is also the SS great Britain ship to run around on.

go onto google maps and put in your address and the address where you are going and study the route. this should help you work out if its doable or not.

its a 6 hour drive from the centre of Manchester and Bristol is exactly half way. shouldn't take you two full days to drive down though OP?

Thank for reply.
I know it won't take two days was just wanting to go two days earlier, spend the two days somewhere else and then the week in st ives.
Had. Quick look at Bristol but doesn't seem very holiday-y
Was thinking Newquay? But heard few people say it's more for 18 year olds??

Newquay is a long way from Manchester!!!! You're practically in St Ives!!! Bristol is a great place!! Or somewhere around Slimbridge Wetland Centre

Newquay is under an hour from st ives and in june will be full of drunken teenagers going to boardmasters or something similar.

we really loved our days out in Bristol. will 4 year olds really care if it is holiday y or not if they have loads to do?

what about Bath? that's half way

Glastonbury, have a look at the Tor and Wells Cathedral.

Minehead? It's a bit off the track but lots to do for little ones for a couple of days.

Great beach, steam railway, Dunster castle and village which is lovely. You could ever get a day pass to Butlins.
