Afternoon tea in Manchester recommendations pls

I was thinking of getting a voucher for afternoon tea for my best friend and her husband for Christmas.

Where would be good? They live in Chorlton and are very foodie. Think they would prefer somewhere stylish and trendy rather than vintage and want it to feel like a nice grown up treat away from the kids.

Please does anyone have any recommendations of places that might fit the bill? Thanks

Slattery's: truly wonderful afternoon tea and amazing chocolate shop downstairs. Great for parking too!

Another vote for Slatterys here

And another vote for Slatterys, it's lovely there.

I like The Corn Exchange, not sure if it's an afternoon tea type of place though.
They do world dishes and prices aren't too bad, but not cheap either.

The Richmond tea rooms are nice and definitely quirky.
Really enjoyed our afternoon tea there.

The Sculpture Cafe in the Town Hall is lovely.

Slattery's is absolutely the best, but probably the opposite of trendy
Lowry Hotel very good, and a bit chic-er

Cloud 23 at the Hilton hotel
Opus one radission blu Edwardian hotel

Hotel Gotham do a Manchester afternoon tea that looks good.
All in city centre

Cloud 23 is lovely and very stylish, and the view is amazing.

Richmond Tea Room is quite vintagey.
Brown's is nice.
Bit underwhelmed by Cloud 23 (the place - not had afternoon tea there) but it's definitely a great view and feels like a treat.

Browns was lovely when we went earlier this year

town hall tearooms were enjoyed by me and grown up kids, but its quite old school. and you need to book a while in advance. cream with scones is odd - hard - but maybe thats how u do it in the north?
