Anyone from Cornwall or Devon? River swimming & holiday cottage needed

Having done some wonderful river swimming and kayaking this summer in Suffolk, I've decided that next year's holiday will be in Cornwall/Devon area, preferably in a cottage or apartment right next to a river. I've found several, but they don't seem to be suitable places to swim. Does anyone in the area know of any nice villages that are on good swimming rivers please?

How about crantock beach in Cornwall, fantastic beach with a gannell that you can swim up. I was there recently and a group of open water swimmers from Newquay were swimming up it. Crantock village is also lovely. You could also google the open water swim club Newquay perhaps they can advise.

South Devon has some amazing wild swim spots and the Torbay end has some fantastic coves for kayaking that are sheltered from the atlantic.
Along the river Dart from Totnes down there's a number of lovely places to stay (and river swim).
We've been travelling in the area (with baby!) and reviewed a number of places on our blog

Further West Hope Cove, Salcombe, Bigbury all have incredible beaches.

South Devon is more what you're looking for I think as the coast is just that much more sheltered.

Durgan and Helford Passage both have holiday cottages that are by the river Helford. There are probably other villages with holiday rentals further up the Helford but these are the 2 places I am familiar with.

I second Crantock for river swimming. The river swim group have a Facebook page called Wild Swim Newquay, take a look as it looks great. But please be careful swimming, there are no lifeguards up the river and sadly people can get in to trouble sometimes in the water.

I do a fair amount of wild swimming in Dartmoor rivers. I live in North Dartmoor.
