Sterilising bottles

At what age did you all stop sterilising bottles?

At 1 year but I know plenty stop at weaning.

When I stopped using formula milk.

I am currently still sterilizing dd2's bottles and she is 17 months - she has two a day - one before nap and one before bed. DD1 I think it would have been when she hit one (but I also chucked her bottles away day before she hit one - that was 13 years ago).

I will stop sterilising when he stops drinking milk from bottles. Milk is a great medium for growing bacteria and bottles and teats have lots of hiding places. It's belt and braces for me. Once he's drinking cows milk from a cup (hopefully not too long after he turns 1) then I'll stop.

Dd3 I stopped at about 8 months.

12 months when I stopped using formula. Which is ridiculous as by that age he was walking and putting everything in his mouth etc etc etc. But HVs and others said its to do with the formula not the bottle - germs in formula more dangerous than cows milk or something.

I sterilise bottles because it's the easiest way of cleaning them.

BUT there have been occasions (weekends away for example) where I just washed them in hot water. I only did this once my babies were a bit older, not when they were tiny.
