Stratford-Upon-Avon ...where to stay?

DH and I are spending a child-free weekend in Stratford in March. We are arriving late n Friday and leaving Sunday afternoon.
I want to stay somewhere centrally (so we can stagger back to the hotel!!), and the only hotel I can remember is the Shakespeare which is okay (IIRC) but not great.
Anyone have any recommendations?

thanks.

don't know any central ones but Ettington Hall in Ettington is supposed to be nice - know a couple of friends have had child-free weekends there.

Me and Dh stayed in the Holiday Inn (was the Moathouse) a few years ago - it was lovely - set on the riverbank and very very central (about a 5 minute stroll into town).

Dh and I stayed at Alveston Manor a few years ago - it was a child-free trip for us (business for dh/freebie for me). I don't think it would be your cheapest option. It's a short walk over the river/bridge, and you are at one end of the town (same side as Shakespeare Theatre).

Thanks guys - don't mind pushing the boat out if it's a nice place - quite fancy being very decadent and drinking champagne in the bath IN THE MIDDLE OF THE DAY!!!!
