Activity Cancellation means I now have 2nd or 3rd week August free - where should I take DS11 for a few days?

Something we'd booked has been cancelled which was breaking up the Summer hols in August - we are away from 21st August but now have either 2nd or 3rd week to fill :( (or I NEED to do something to keep DS age 11 occupied). We are based in the Midlands and so happy to travel a little way. DH will be working so just me and DS

He loves swimming, slide beach (if weathers ok) happy to stay in at night so daytime really need occupying. We love CP's but could really only manage a weekend there due to very high costs

Any ideas?
