Child friendly places in/near centre of Edinburgh - for a coffee or lunch

Anyone got any suggestions for a good place to go with a bundle of kids in Edinburgh. It's to meet up with some friends that are visiting, so somewhere the kids will be happy enough with while we natter and do lots of catching up!

Thanks

Why not go to Prince's Street Mall?

That way the wee ones can run about.

NOT St. James Place. That is the worst coffee in town and a rip off as well.

Could also go to Starbuck's in Prince's Street, which is fairly large.

John Lewis is always awash with younguns, or if you have transport then Tusitala on the outskirts of town has parking and is very family friendly.

Ok just reading Edinburgh for the under 5s as you have not received any other responses.some good recommendations, EST EST EST and Browns both on George street although dicy for parking. The Hub on Castlehill is good, has loads of room so they could run around.

They also recommend Lauriston Farm restaurant which has an indoor play area. I think its Brewers Fayre so not high cuisine but may be good to keep the kiddes entertained

Ace. Thanks a million for recommendations. We've got friends coming up from London, so it's good that I have somewhere recommended to go (as the 'local' - sort of).

Thanks all
