Recommend me a restaurant in London

Going to London for 3 nights last weekend in June for DPs birthday. Want to go for a nice meal on the Sunday night.

Criteria for restaurant:

  • In Zone 1 or 2 & not too difficult on the tube from Stratford (2 changes is fine)
  • Decent vegetarian selection (for me) but not a vegetarian restaurant as DP is a confirmed carnivore
  • Not a chain - nothing against them but we live near a city so can do chain restaurants anytime
  • Budget of around £100-120 for 2 of us for 2 or 3 courses plus wine
  • A view of London / historic building would be nice, or something v 'London'

TIA

I like Roast in Borough Market. Not sure about vegetarian menu: website says to ask for it so they obv do cater for vegetarians.

Grain store in Kings X

There's a small chain of Turkish restaurants called tas. I'm veggie and they've got great veggie options. But plenty of meat too

Andrew Edmunds on Lexington St in Soho or Aurora across the street. No view, but in the heart of London.

Roast is great and they do a separate menu for vegetarians. That's a good shout actually.

And easy from Stratford. Jubilee line straight into London Bridge or if you wanted to do something nice, then get the central line to bank and walk across London Bridge to Borough Market. I've done that walk nearly every day for 7 years and it never gets old.

If you wanted an extra treat you could even go for a drink at the bar in the Shard!

There are two (or three) restaurants in the Shard, one at least is Oriental but you could check them out for vegetarian dishes etc. .
There are also quite a few in the City, including Duck and Waffle which is high up in in a huge skyscraper on Bishopsgate (v.near Liverpool St station) and is open 24/7. Menu is online.
