Center Parcs: Anyone stayed in a comfort villa - urgent packing advice needed

We have been to Elvedon a couple of times but always stayed in an executive villa. We are going MOnday and staying in the basic comfort villa and I need to know what to pack. In executive they provided washing up liquid, tea towels etc. Is it the same in comfort or do I literally need to bring everything??

you will need to bring towels etc - check your booking details

iota · 06/01/2007 09:29

see here no dishwasher either

foxtrot · 06/01/2007 09:31

i think we had a basic starter pack, as listed here:

what to pack

Skyler · 06/01/2007 09:32

You need to take everything! They provide one tea towel, one washing cloth and a sachet of washing up liquid. All our crockery and cutlery needed washing before we could use it so take this. I would take toilet wipes and anti bac spray too. I am afraid our Comfort villa at Elevedon was filthy and we had to buy a load of cleaning stuff . I think we were very unlucky though. Have a wonderful time!

Sorry kid - comfort villa's -take everything!!

They give you bedding and cutlery, U don't get a frying pan so take one if you need it!!! Do get sauce-pans, cooking utensils rubbish. no towels!!

Take your own loo roll too!

Other than that, fine!!!

IlanaK · 06/01/2007 10:34

Thanks everyone. I wonder if we have made a mistake going for the comfort this time? We just found the executive accomodation so expensive and didn't really think you got much extra for the money.

Skyler, I think your experience must have been unusual. We have been to center parcs a number of times (though never in a comfort villa) and the cleanliness levels throughout the park have been spot on. If we find our villa is not clean when we arrive, I will be insisting they send a maid out to clean it before we unpack anyway!

Ok, I will pack on the assumption that there will be nothing there then. We will probably buy most of what we need at the shop there anyway.

I think we were very unlucky. I was quite shocked and wrote letters of complaint and called the cleaners out at the time. Got £50 off our next break. Great, an opportunity to spend more money there . Actually we will use it because apart from our accomodation we had a wonderful time. It was so great to go somewhere SOOO child friendly ! I think our problem was that we took our dog with us and so our accomodation was particularly shabby. Such a shame as it cost another £50 to take the dog. We won't take her again because of the accommodation .
Have a wonderful time

IlanaK · 06/01/2007 11:27

Ah - I think that would explain it Skyler. I have not taken a dog, but I know they only have certain villas that are designated "dog villas". Still - there is no excuse for it not being clean!

Yes. The smell in the villa I could live with and accept as it was a doggie villa but faeces on BOTH toilet bowls and shampoo in the bath still and hair on the bathroom floor and the build up behind the toilet seat. YUK YUK YUK. Not to mention the dust, and the fact the oven was faulty and I burnt my hand on the outside of the glass door giving me a blister It was amazingly bad which is why I was shocked at our £50 offer. They give that away via MN . Anyway they came and cleaned it again and then I did it too and we spent so little time in the villa it was fine. And as I say I would still go back as I just feel we were so unlucky.....

When we went, they'd stuck us in a villa right at the back of the resort, with our 1 year old!! Lovely!! Then we discovered that both bathrooms were completely overrun with ants.

Went to the hotel reception (where manager is) and made very firm point that we wanted a new and closer villa, and that we weren't happy with ants running over our tooth brushes.

Anyway, I was polite but firm, and got 6 new toothbrushes, and a meal in the indian restaurant for free!!! Oh and they moved us to a nearer villa with no ants

SarahJaneSmith · 06/01/2007 13:28

We have only ever been to Longleat but the last time we went we opted for a very cheap comfort villa. It was fine, just darker inside and a bit damp smelling. I think the outside wood cladding had started to rot. I phoned customer services about the smell just incase it was the drains and they sent around some air-freshener, smelly candles and a voucher for a free meal. The smell had gone by the next day anyway.

We found that there was enough cooking stuff for us but we always take our own slowcooker in winter. We also take our own dvd player for rainy evenings or afternoons when we all sit around the coffee table and do a jigsaw - very exciting holidays we have! Anyway, the dvd player plays our cds and we have a really nice time watching family movies. The executive villas have a dvd a sstandard I think.

We did run out of loo roll but our villa was clean apart from some very large and aged cobwebs!

IlanaK · 06/01/2007 13:29

To be fair funkimummy, you do have to pay a supplement if you want to be near to the centre. Or if you want to specify a villa number. We are paying an extra £30 to be near the swimming pool this time. Now, ants on the other hand is yuck and I would have complained about that too, but I think you were lucky to get any closer to the centre without paying extra and prebooking it.

We also always pay the £17.50 to book the exact villa we want now too. That is money very well spent IMO. We are going again just before Easter this time after finding a wonderful money saving code on www.moneysavingexpert.com so we can afford the spacious exec villa this time. I'm more excited than the kids!
