Days out near Elveden Center parcs?

We've booked a week there in July - me, DH and DD9 - so I'm looking for ideas of nearby days out, places to visit etc. Where should we go? (Preferably less than an hour away). We'll be coming down from East Lothian and don't have a clue about the area - thanks!

What do you like? Coast? Theme parks? Nature? Art? Museums? Theatre? Steam trains?

If you like squirrels and deer, you won't have to go anywhere.

Have you been to Center Parcs before? In our experience, we have found plenty to do on-site for Mon-Fri breaks. If you have booked Mon-Mon then you might need to find something off-site. There's nothing to stop you going out for the day, but I don't think it's really designed to be that sort of holiday. If you did want to go on some days out then Ely, Cambridge and Norwich would all be good choices.

Thanks - and yes we're going Mon-Mon so I thought we'd want to go out and about a wee bit. Museums / coast / castles / steam trains all sound good. We're going to try to go to Legoland on the way down so may not be up for any more theme parks...
