Travelling to Wembley Stadium

I am taking the kids to watch football at Wembley at the end of the month and I don't know how best to get there? We are coming from the West up the M4. I am not sure if driving close would be a good idea as would be 6pm ish so likely busy on M25? Is there somewhere easy I could park and get a tube to Wembley or is that just making much more travel time? Trains don't work for returning home time so I think I have to drive.

It's £30 but I figured would be better than parking further away and dragging tired kids on the tube/train. You can park up from 7am so maybe you could arrive earlier and spend some time in London?

Starlings, would be interested as to how you found the car park and getting out at the end of the night next week. We couldn't get tickets for Tuesday but have booked for the Portugal game.

We've booked parking too.
Friends who go regularly with children have advised it really is the simplest option.

I'm going soon with my kids and I've booked parking as well. The last time I went we queued for ages afterwards for a train and although there will undoubtedly be queues to get out of the car park at least the kids can be comfortable and go to sleep if they're a bit tired out.

Please allow lots of time if travelling anywhere around the M25 on the section around Heathrow it is frequently a car park

2016 - will update later in the week. I haven't great expectations tbh but reckon even if it takes an hour to get out of the car park at least the kids can snooze in the car.

So a good 45 minutes to leave the car park. Pretty chaotic really. I think they hold the traffic back to allow those on foot to get away safely, which is fair enough. But then it was just a free-for-all with myriad queues of cars trying to filter into one lane and a handful of staff trying to assist at the lane in question.

I'm still glad we booked it but it was a shambles. If I'd thought on we would have grabbed something to eat before trying to head off. If it was me driving I'd have been pretty stressed but luckily it was dh and he's more relaxed than me.

fyi there is a McD very very close on the main road, iirc it is also a drive through but not 100% sure on that

Took ages to park, signage to official car parks is not great.
Everywhere was mobbed so it was all a bit confusing.
Once we found our car park, it was a minutes walk to the stadium.
Leaving was slightly chaotic, took over an hour to leave the car park.
I would recommend though, to be in our own warm car was much more preferable to dragging cold and tired DC on packed tube.

Thanks for the updates, will book I think. Cheaper than the train and we can park for most of the day and nip into London or to eat nearby before the match.
