Recommendation for hotel & eatery between South Wales & Derbyshire?

Hotel Du Vin in Cheltenham is lovely, although not really in between South Wales and Derbyshire, I guess it depends where in South Wales you're coming from though!

Have stayed at No 131 in Cheltenham too, it gets great reviews on trip advisor but I didn't rate it at all, very ordinary rooms and overpriced for what it is, nice communal areas though.

Both in very easy walking distance of the centre of Cheltenham.
