Japanese restaurants in London

Can anyone recommend a Japanese restaurant in London that will cost about £70 per head including a couple of drinks?

I've never eaten in a Japanese restaurant before (except for yo sushi) and am finding it difficult to work out costs from menus as I'm unsure how much food we would be ordering as it's obviously not three courses.

Would Canary Wharf work? If so, Roka is lovely.

That looks good. Are they open Sunday's for lunch, I wonder?

There's a Roka in Charlotte st (near Goodge st stn) too if you want to stay central. Otherwise for amazing Brazilian-Japanese fusion and one of the best views in town, it has to be Sushi Samba:

CW is open on Sundays, they do a popular brunch through to 3:30, menu and prices (45, 55 or 65 including drinks) here. I've never tried it, only normal lunch. Would like to though!

Tsunami in Clapham is fab. They have one in West End too. Fantastic food - although I recommend staying away from the dynamite beef - I can handle hot food but that was ridiculous!

I love it as its not ridiculously priced, the menu is easy to work out, get a bento box, and the atmosphere is laid back. Lived in Japan for two years and I often use it as an intro to Japanese food for people.

You could definitely have a very nice meal with drinks for 70 quid a head at Tsunami. All that money you're not paying towards the rent at Sushi Sambe you could spend on cocktails. But it's not a super traditional Japanese experience.

Chisou? There's one off Regent street and another in Beauchamp Place. The branch in the West End has a counter service side which is cheaper (£85 for three recently but only 1 beer).

Pham Sushi near Old St roundabout (Whitecross St)....yum!

I'll second Pham! Love it there! Sushi Hiroba on Kingsway is pretty solid too but not overly 'special'. WHo are your diners?

Thank you for all your help. I'm still struggling to find somewhere. I really liked the look on the tasting menu at Canary Wharf roku but they're fully booked for lunch.

It's for my sons 18th birthday meal. It's for myself and my partner and the rest are teens.

We took his sister to the oxo tower for lunch for that sort of money so although I don't want to spend a fortune (we are paying for everyone), I would like it to be a nice experience.

I think where I am struggling is not really knowing how much we would be ordering so the menu prices don't mean much to me. Also, some restaurants (like tsunami) don't have prices on their online menu, so I'm reluctant to book.

I know this is an old(ish) thread, but for anyone happening to see it I also highly, highly recommend Shimogamo in Camden Town.
Am a bit of an expert on Japanese cuisine and this is the real thing.
