Haven holiday gone up by £300 in a year

Last year friend and I (both single mums) took our kids on a 4day midweek break to a haven in weymouth during the Easter holiday and paid £257 between us and that was for a caravan that sleeps 8. We had a great time and would like to go again this year.

Just looking again now to book and i can't find anything for less than £550

how can it of gone up that much?

Was your Easter holiday last year different dates to much of the rest of the country?

No we are the same holidays, expect it to go up in school hols but thought we would get a good deal again this year!

Disappointing as that was a very affordable holiday for us, £125 ish each for us both to get there and went halfs on a aldi food shop £30 each to feed us all

Did you book earlier or later? Are there any codes around?

I do think the booking times does make a difference

well you can say a big thank you to Mr Gove for that one! the changes to no holidays in term time have really hit the industry. I have been following this one myself. in order to make up for the lost income during term time, haven like everyone else is having to whack up all school holiday prices not just summer ones. feel really sorry for you OP. unfortunately members of parliament have kids in private school and don't have to worry.

Mummy meister if I was making the rules.. I would allow families to take 1 week off in school time provided they could prove they spent it in the UK.
It would allow really poor families a cheap holiday and would be good for our tourist industry. But you are right about them and private schools they just done get it.

thanks stairway my MP gets letters from me about this regularly. its so glaringly obvious that this needs to change. the rich are still having holidays either because their kids are in private schools or because they can afford the fines. did wonder if I should have advised the OP to just take the kids in term time and take the hit on fines.

I booked the lady holiday on 7th feb last year, just found my booking confirmation, so pretty much looking at exactly the same time.

Was really hoping to go back to weymouth, it was lovely, great beach and we were really lucky with the weather

We booked with Park Resorts and have paid similar rates for August then last year was advertised (we have gone to a different park with a bigger van but it's relative )

Maybe demand is just higher this year than last? Have you tried other parks?

OP have you tried looking on Hoseasons? That's the main site for UK holiday park deals. There are definitely good caravans around at the price you paid last year.

School holiday rules plus more people are sticking to UK hols this year instead of travelling abroad due to perceived risk of terror attacks/european migration issues etc. Greater demand = higher prices

I would second trying Hoseasons. I'm a travel agent and was looking for a customer today and was finding deals for under £300 for August so you should be able to get something at Easter.

If families in Wales can take kids out intern time it should apply to the whole of the united kingdom.

In havens defence we booked for mon - Friday from Easter Monday for the same cost as last year around £290.

I think it's a case of booking early and keeping an eye out for 30% off discounts

Compared to last year I noticed Hoseasons 2016 prices was higher by at least £200 than 2015 (The Lakes).
