UK holiday - Snowdonia? Scotland? Anywhere else... looking for suggestions!

We usually holiday in Bamburgh but thisyear (October) want to go somewhere different,DC are 10 and 6.

We thought Snowdonia or nearby... mountains, beach and countryside all in one go... ormaybe aomewhere nice in scotland....we like tostay in little holiday cottages...

where can you recommend?
